Arts Administrator, Marketer, Patron, & Advocate
Patrick G.H. Schley is a performing arts marketing & administration professional. He is currently the Academy Services Manager at First Stage in Milwaukee, where he is responsible for registrations, customer service, communications, logistics, and technology. First Stage Theater Academy is the largest theater training program for young people in the country. He is also the Front of House Manager for the Father Robert V. Carney Performing Arts Center at Pius XI High School. He also can be found serving in front-of-house roles at the historic Pabst Theater as well as the Broadway Theatre Center. Additionally, Patrick is the Faith Formation Program Administrator at St. Sebastian Parish, where he has been a lifetime member.
Since 1998, he has had extensive theatrical experience, both on stage and off. Behind the scenes, Patrick is experienced as an administrator, house manager, marketer, box officer, stage manager, sound engineer, and lighting operator. For most of the 2010-11 season, Patrick was the Marketing & Sales Manager at Milwaukee Repertory Theater, where he helped the company launch the groundbreaking tenure of Artistic Director Mark Clements. He has worked with other theatre organizations such as The Lake Geneva Theatre Company, the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, Provision Theater and Tony award-winning Victory Gardens Theater and Chicago Shakespeare Theater.
Patrick has a long-time affiliation with the School Factory, an innovative non-profit which creates value-creating communities and spaces that transform education. For nearly 5 years, Patrick served as the Associate Director of School Factory's Bucketworks, the world’s first health club for the brain, where he coordinated administrative functions including facility management, membership development, and communications.
He was a member of the administrative team of the innovative Primary Colours Student Experimental Theatre for two seasons, helping shape the company’s administrative growth. In 2005, he helped to create the Metro Milwaukee Young Playwrights Competition, which ran for two years as a highly successful collaborative program between Pius XI High School and Milwaukee Chamber Theatre. Additionally, Patrick has served as a teaching assistant for creative drama programs at the Wisconsin Center for Gifted Learners.
Off-stage theatrical credits include house management of THE MYSTERY OF IRMA VEP, CHRISTMAS WITH A TWIST, and PRIVATE LIVES (The Lake Geneva Theatre Company) and CLOUD TECTONICS and HURRAH FOR THE NEXT WHO DIES! (The Theatre School), stage management of ACCORDION CRIMES (The Theatre School), GODSPELL, THE MADWOMAN OF CHAILLOT, and MACBETH (First Stage), lighting crew for LIFE'S A DREAM (The Theatre School), and front-of-house crew for SIDEWAYS STORIES FROM WAYSIDE SCHOOL (The Theatre School/Chicago Playworks). Additionally, Patrick served as producer for Primary Colours Theatre's productions of THIS IS OUR YOUTH, COMPANY, and SUMMER AND SMOKE. On-stage credits include STONES OF WISDOM and SING DOWN THE MOON: APPALACHIAN WONDER TALES at First Stage.
Outside of the theatrical world, Patrick has taken leadership roles in several political campaigns, including a Wisconsin gubernatorial campaign, where he assisted with phone banks, literature distribution, rallies, and “get out the vote” activities. He was a senior consultant for a Milwaukee mayoral campaign and a re-election campaign for Milwaukee City Attorney. Patrick has stayed active in the political arena through participation in the Overpass Light Brigade, a progressive grassroots activist group. Additionally, Patrick is a regular volunteer for 88nine Radio Milwaukee, a community-focused public radio station.
In addition, Patrick works as a freelance web and graphic designer through his boutique firm PGHSWeb, and has created websites and branding for multiple Milwaukee-area organizations. He also offers IT, infrastructure, social media, and cloud computing consulting services.
Patrick attended the BFA Theatre Management program at The Theatre School at DePaul University in Chicago. While at DePaul, he was also heavily involved in University Ministry and the Student Leadership Institute. Patrick was born and raised in Milwaukee's historic Washington Heights Neighborhood and attended Pius XI High School. He currently resides in the Martin Drive Neighborhood on Milwaukee’s west side. Patrick is a member of the Tessitura Network, the global leader for arts & cultural technology, services, and community; and Theatre Communications Group, the national organization for the American theatre.
